Fruit Cocktail Cake

This is a recipe from my Mother.  These items are usually on hand.  I have substituted the fruit cocktail with canned peaches and it was just as wonderful.  Serve this warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

You will need:

2 cups flour
1 1/2 cup sugar
1 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
pinch of salt
1 can fruit cocktail (the regular can size like soup can size)
2 eggs

Mix all ingredients together with spoon.  Pour in 9 X 13 cake pan and bake at 350 for 35 to 40 minutes until golden brown.

Frosting
1 stick of butter
1 cup of sugar
1 can of evaporate milk
1 teaspoon vanilla

Put ingredients in medium sauce pan and bring to a boil for 3 minutes.  Stir frequently and be careful it will boil over!!!  Pour over hot cake and let it soak in.  Serve warm.
